Painting a panel with a roller brush?

I don't know any spray painting equipment. But I have a Mf 80 loader which needs to be freshened up and painted. Did anyone ever use a roller brush to paint machinery before? If so how does the finish look? Will it look spongy? How does a roller cope with curves on the metal?

You will get what’s known as orange peel effect with a sponge roller depends how fussy you are for the finish but I would imagine it would be exceptable enough to stop the effects you need to roller then lay off with a fine tipped paint brush but if you have never done this before you can end up with a mess do a little test piece with a roller see what you think

The small 4inch hwide foam rollers do pretty good job on steel , the prep is the important thing and putting some primer /undercoat on bare metal to get nice even finish on it

I've had good results with smooth 4" rollers. Work well on most surfaces. Only thing they don't do is lots of nooks and crannies an internal corners. External corners and edges are fine

Go to a paint supplier and ask for a paint for brushing and rolling , you get different paint for different applications , stage coach buses used to be hand painted when overhauled .

How much work do you want? If you want a reasonable finish smooth and glossy as long as you start with it being smooth use some rust oleum paint is designed for rolling straight on. The orange mini roller are the ones to get. You just need to find correct paint code and they’ll mix it to right colour. If you want it showroom perfect it’s a sand prime spray job.
