Peas, probably not the proper name, but, newly calved heifer not milking out because of peas in the teat canal. Can usually strip them out with a bit of persuasion but can't get them to budge. Any ideas, will milking cow tubes help? Thanks
Have seen the odd one with more like small grains if rice after calving which can be stripped out and don’t seem to cause any problems.
What I’ve allways referred to as a pea is like a lump in the teatthat you can feel as quite hard, and stops the milk, vet can remove them with a sort of cork screw torture instrument, it’s quite brutal and will allmost certainly end up in a bad mastitis. Luckily I haven’t seen one for quite a few years.
Very possibly down to breeding miming cow tubes will not sort them as stated above a vet could possibly open them up but that's usualy a recipient for disaster with mastitis
