You should be. i did my PA1 with 2 blokes who couldn't read the cans, one because he wasn't english and the other because he was thick. All the examiner said was, "it's not a test of reading" and read the cans and questions to them. Since that day I have become even more cynical as they both passed and neither was safe to do the job IMO.
Examiner was 100% in the wrong there; even if it was some time ago. Fully laptop based PA1 now so not being able to read will mean a fail. Examiner has nothing to do with it, bar switching the thing on etc.

Sorry i dont get it, surely you check and double check whats going in the tank? Never, ever rush filling up and phone is on silent whilst filling. I also ignore anybody who comes up to talk
We do check but it could be made easier in my view. I shouldn’t really need to put my glasses on to read the actives on the side of drum that’s 2 foot tall when confronted by yet another new brand name I don’t recognise.
So nobody ever rushed filling a tank…. to get it on before the wind picks up, or it gets dark etc. I don’t live in an ideal world and I think the labelling could be more helpful. Surprised it hasn’t failed a risk assessment TBH.

And they changed all the hazard symbols and lerap rules a few years ago, was the significant disruption worth it? I certainly find it much less intuitive.
The only way to ascertain the buffer zones now is to read a paragraph off the label whereas when it was just A or B you knew where you stood. I reckon there are at least 30 different permutations of buffer zone now depending on assessment standard applied, nozzle rating, boundary feature type/ water course width and product type. What a mess. Nozzle drift rating often depends on pressure which with a rate controller depends on forward speed.
Over prescriptive regulation strikes again. All it really needs to say is “reasonable measures should be taken….”.
