When you wean at 5 weeks, are yours taking water by then?

I've tried it a few times and the don't drink for days! I give in and put more milk out

They are taking a bit as soon as I put creep in (at about 2 weeks). They don’t take very much water of course, as they are drinking ad-lib milk, but they do at least know what it is for when they are weaned.

Weaned all mine at 5 weeks this year for the first time, never had such good cade lambs, they are hammering creep out of the feeder in the field, I'm daring to think they might make reasonable lambs and not still be here in September when everything else has gone!

Are yours taking enough creep by 5 weeks?
Struggling to get mine to eat enough to spane them yet

They aren’t generally taking much by 5 weeks, but if they are taking enough to know what it is, their intake will shoot up when you wean them. If the machine ever runs out of powder (& then only gives them water) they soon take more pellets to compensate.
