PETA video shearing

As bad as the video is, as with all these cases I fail to comprehend how anyone could stand by, watch and video it, like scoring points, those doing the recording are as culpable in my eyes

Gah peta, even south park made a comedy of them, the only people who take any notice are vegans with an axe to grind

That's fine but in the cases shown in the video peta are entirely correct, it just shouldn't happen.

They then go on to make a huge generalisation that this is the norm which is nonsense.

No wonder farming has a bad name with idiots like this working in it. It is not just one guy but a load of guys shearing plus the other guys in the shed.

see it happen in a few sheds ..as a learner i lost my rag a few times gave up just made a c$%t of my self
liked shearing merinos most times sat well and yer just had to know how to handle them crossbreeds do my head in i don't shear them
the odd cut will happen on some think of a shar pa dog thats what a lot of merinos look like wrinkles all over them some in damp areas full of dermo so tough going

the whole industry gets tared with the same brush there are good shearers and contractors out there all around the world

should of also done a drug test including the back packer doing the film

No shortage of morons I'm afraid.Still remember the catchers who used turkeys as cricket bats a few years ago. That did the poultry industry a lot of harm.

Dickheads(n) They could have had them clipped by the time they'd finished that show. And why do the RSPCA have to investigate something that happened in Australia? Jolly anyone?

Several years ago a slaughter house near to us was filmed for a documentary, the main slaughter man was an evil b*$ tard, was filmed putting fags out in pigs eyes , and torturing pigs with electric shocks to their nuts etc. The outcry was massive, he turned up the morning after it was shown to find 300 people waiting to string him up, needless to say was arrested on the spot, the slaughterhouse shut down several weeks later

Annoying and no need of it. Thankfully it's the exception rather than the norm but unfortunately the "norm" tends to be run of the mill and generally uninteresting the audience in general.

One of the first things we were taught learning to shear was not to lose your rag and waste energy as there is always the next sheep, and the next, and the next....

up north grandmothers bro's family run a shearing gang hit sheep the machine is turned off pack yer bags and cut stiched up on the spot ..all come down to the contractor how tight a gang they run intresting shearing style tho most ozzies don't drop the head on the last side or bend up the sheep like crossbreed shearers , i would almost say they got kicked out of gangs in NZ

yea AJR75 there is another one and so on and so on

i can recall peta had a crack at the aussie wool industry years ago put out a video got the rich and famous to go on about it one changed her tune when going to have a music tour there
same as the halal ones pigs chickens horses fur traders etc they all highlight a small % but say it's happening across the whole industry ,in saying that they seem to forget there videos when one group set a chicken farm on fire burning all the stock alive and also cutting the power off at another place leading to the fans not running

Horrible video, and as bad as what's being done, no one appears to object which is worse.

Still not right to tar all farmers and wool products with the one brush all the same.

simple reson no one says any thing is most of the shedhands young and scared know alot of farmers who will not let some shearer in to there sheds and some shedhands that will not work with some shearers ..
have to say it's a test of yer mental state get a handpeice knocked out of yer hand breaking a come or hits a shedhand then a big ram will not bend next one kicks you in the mouth one after that kicks you in the balls cockys on yer case to get the numbers done due to rain sheep full and not been off feed port holes in wrong place so sheep don't go out some just snap sad to say .. i used to stop have a smoke and chill out in the end regroup and carry on good bosses would come along and point out whats going wrong ..
have seen sheep run in off grass full gut 100+ Kg ewes wild as hell and the cockys wonder why they kick if i sat them on there arse and tryed to bend them they would kick too

On another part of that report, PETA point out that some farmers routinely deprive the sheep of feed & water before shearing.

yep can't win ... run them in full shearer have a hard job sheep tend to have a harder time shearer and shed hands getting pi55ed on board wet wool higher shed stain higher amount of chems needed for scouring wool weakened with higher chem use ummmmmmm yep they sure do there home work on getting the full amount of facts ..but like always never let the facts get in the way of a good story

intresting there is a video on facebook on peta's site i looked at the replys some of the names on there are large shearing contractors all condoneing whats on there and would fire any workers doing that there is also some intresting replys just watching the one on there page ummmmmmmm same guy in all the video and seems to be shearing alone , also noticed a few in the ozzie one shearing alone and it seemed to be the same guys roughing up the sheep a few shots being taken i would say staged ... If staged kinda shows what a group will do
