we grew it for seed years ago at old farm .. told mainly used for summer covers in wild life mixes to feed ladybirds bees etc etc and for outside planting to control pests IE the good insects live in it invaders have to pass though it so get killed off with good insects ..

for that job great if just a cover crop ummmm don't know if it would be worth it

we also grew sunflowers and got scortinna (?) in them the seed growers can't grow them back to back in alot of areas due to disease so that would be another thing i would question

I think it has an increased value when used before a winter cereal when there is only a short gap between harvest and drilling. Probably less important in your planned use?

What was the yield when you grew it for seed?
I was going to grow a few acres for my own use but have ended up with a contract for seed production so I'm growing a few more acres than I originally intended!!!
