Can I use an EE phone Sim in a Router?

They are currently offering Sim only Unlimited data for £34 pm for phones but their data Sims aren't unlimited and cost a lot more.

Any help on this would great, thanks.

In our experience some work some dont, Three sims know they are not in a phone and dont authenticate. Sometimes they will work for a while and then stop working or the speeds are throttled back, the network expect a phone to be mobile and make phone calls and texts, when the sim always stays connected to the same mast and never makes a phone call the network works it out. But saying that Vodafone sims generally work no problem. One thing to watch on "unlimited" phone sims is the small print for the fair usage policy - how much it is (generally quite low on phone sims) and what happens when you hit it. Hope this helps....

Many thanks.

Just found this re EE unlimited Sims

"At the time of writing it doesn’t look as if EE has yet extended their unlimited feature to dedicated Mobile Broadband plans, such as those shipping alongside a 4G or 5G WiFirouter, although this shouldn’t stop you sticking a related SIM in such a device."

I think I'll risk it!!

I took out a contract with EE yesterday, running home/business broadband on 4GEE Router, 18 month deal at £28.33 per month, + vat
this is with an unlimited data sim, couldn't see it online but was offered it in the shop.
Early days but very impressed so far, download averaging 65/70 Mbs and upload 25 ish. After years of bt at 2Mbs it is amazing!

Nearest 4G here is about 1/2 mile away... 3G at the farm is sporadic at best, 10 years ago it was much better! I have done the opposite of most, started out with a 3G sim but after a few years had to change to a broadband landline connection as 3G reliability started to fail me!!

Do you still have a landline? Our broadband is pretty poor thinking about getting a 4g setup
Currently still have the landline as still 5 months of contract to serve. I think I won’t renew it though. Struggling to get my head round no landline but I think it will go.

Got that set up here with a HUAWEI router works great, make sure you get an antenna

I’m with 3 and get unlimited data £20 a month
Exactly what I have got and it just steadily gets worse and worse.
Best speed I ever saw was 40meg, usual is about 2 and often as not it doesn’t do anything.
It’s not even what I would call remote, hilly, difficult terrain etc. It is what I call shite.

Seen that here too (just N of Telford) with mobile performance dropping badly even with 3 masts within 2 miles... Hoping that a new 3 mast will be accessible and I'll swap my provider...

The other half has just done this deal with EE business. £70/month inc vat, 24mth contract. iPhone 11, unlimited data. We’ve already got an EE router so for an extra £5/month she can share her contract data to the router. So all up £75/month.

Her old contract was £40/month plus we were paying BT £40/month for BB (very slow) so for roughly the same price we’ve now got much faster speeds and she’s got a phone worth about £900.
