Phosphate

Ok so I have been a fan of the Albrecht system, I always apply sulphur to slowly reduce my high mag. Sampling shows it is slowly improving. I was told it would take 30 years to see an improvement ( now in year 12).
MOP £378, DAP £582, TSP £448
the Timac product £650 (23%P 21%S) soluble and more available but 😯.

I'm not convinced you will change your magnesium level in a hurry no matter what you apply.

MOP is muriate of potash, not monoammonium phosphate, mind.

If you have high soil pH then it's important you optimise your phosphate levels so that plants at least have half a chance to access it. They have ways of obtaining P and K in many situations, the trick of it is ensuring they are there to begin with and soil health is optimised. You, like most of the rest of the UK will need to be applying sulphur every time you apply nitrogen- it doesn't fall out of the sky any longer and it is just as readily lost from soils over time as nitrogen.

With high pH you may also get interesting trace element deficiencies which may be helped by using products like fibrophos but again it doesn't work on small areas due to application and haulage.

I’ve had very good results with tsp even though I’ve been told it’s not the best form of phosphate
Went onto Dap and Mop as advised but it got dear

P-Grow will work better than TSP in this situation.

It is a gritty dust ash from incinerated bone meal. It is safe to use and highly effective being 23% phosphate.

We spread a lot of it on heavy South Warwickshire clays and it works very well.

If you are in North Gloucestershire I cover that area, otherwise PM me and I can advise you on who to contact.
