Picking a new fertiliser spinner - Advice please?

Hello, this year I changed our sprayer from a 12m to 21m. Now I'm going to have to change the fertilser spinner to suit the wider tramlines as the old one just isnt up to it!
We have a relatively low number of acres of arable, which can be quite hilly. So in terms of spec it is going to be relatively basic, just border spreader, lights, cover and hopefully a good calibration kit. As we are working in small fields and the sprayer has been upgraded the amount of area round the back of the ditch has increased meaning accurate border spreading is required. Also I intend to use a lot more granular urea.

Reading the brochures the KRM looks appealing with the double overlap on borders and double - double overlap on the main sections.
I have got a couple of quotes with Vicon being the cheapest and KRM and Amazone being the dearest. Please give me advice and your own experiences to help me make the right choice as we intend to keep the machine for a long time.

Thanks

Amazones are popular but then so are Vauxhalls...If the KRM is around the same price then you'd go for it every time, Amazone's got too many linkages that seize up,even when you think you've lubricated them all there's one I've missed..

If you set the trimmer right its good, remember to drop the revs a bit, you can shut sides off separately too unlike Tulip and KRM . This saves a lot of under and over use of fert, Amazone do this too.

Got amazone here but if i was looking at a new one it would be a kuhn....ok the agitators acan be a bit problematic, but they are just so easy to set up in the field

Made that move in 2009.
Great machine and like you say very easy set. Replaced spreader vanes on it twice and one hydraulic hose and that's been it.
Very good paintwork too. Still looks like new.

Got an Amazone- Wish I'd bought something else. Complicated to set if you use imported/ blended fert.

Not good to wash but are any spreaders.

On my 3rd krm. Great machines with few problems and excellent paintwork. The last one went after 10 years and only because I wanted weighing. Manual calibration is easy. they used to have bearings go in the agitators but they have now been improved.

Headland system works well I can usually see the crop slightly shorter at the very edge of the field. Get one with remote cable so you don't have to get out to pull the lever.

Finally weighing is worth every penny. 4 bags in set the weight and go it's spot on. If you can afford it buy it.

Also forgot my krm is only as wide as the tractor. A neighbours amazone is a lot wider. Not sure if it's just the combination of extensions he bought or not but it would be a pain for me to squeeze around small grazing paddocks if the krm was the best part of 3 m wide.

Also the ladder which is on the KRM options list is very useful.

What's wrong with the Sulky in your opinion? I saw one at the Balmoral show and my dad and I thought it was quite light.
It's a pig to wash, awful to calibrate, the border spread flings it too far, the paintwork isn't as good, single acting rams are a step back, small seed/slug pellet kit is inaccurate. We bought it from our favorite dealer thinking all spreaders were basically the same, but haven't liked it from the start. I wish we had the electric calibration option as well.

Had poverty spec Kuhn here for over 20 years. 1st a 921 model and since 2002 a 1131 model spreading to 21 metres on 200 acres cereals.
Easy to clean, easy to set up and never had a stripe in corn ever. Paintwork is still like new on ours.
The only thing that will ever make me go away from the Kuhn is if we go to liquid.

Got a Kuhn 19.1 here and would highly recommend, in our small fields the single hopper means no fertiliser left one side only and the ease of use and set up is the best, find the settings forgiving and not overly complicated for the types of fertiliser, some of these fertilisers vary and it has always spread everything very very well. Had a Sulky before and would never go back, it was so complicated, Kuhn seem to be streets ahead in being more practical to set up.
