My effort for today’s lockdown picture, a bit of fly tipping on next years wheat field.

My first time growing méteil or meslin. I am looking forward to the final result but am very pleased with it so far!

My meagre efforts of today, just missed a photo of the calves opposite the house drinking out of the pond because as I went to take the picture I scared the ducks swimming past them. I will never make a photographer! The second photo of the lake at the top of the farm.

It is a mixture of wheat spelt triticale oats peas and beans for combining for cattle food.

Was to late and wet to sow corn last fall

I was going to put rye grass and red clover into my 8 ha of Triticale that has failed but the previous tenant reckoned spring sowing was too risky for drying out and the clover dying,so I am going to try multi cut sorghum and put some Alexandria clover with it and sow the grass in the autumn. It has certainly been a bit of a sh!t autumn and winter to make a new start in France!

We will see, I was hoping to save spending any more money having paid for the triticale seed already but I would rather not take any more risks with that field this year. Hope the grass goes ok for you. Who do you use for seed supplies? So far I have just used Sica BB (our coop) but I see there are a few on line suppliers. Guess its just a case of shopping around.

Just a couple, one of the farm and one of the neighbours (also landlord) gaff. It’s only basic but is serves him as a weekender!
