Had a bit of a break over the weekend at the MAC Festival

Last weekend in the Périgord:

Comice agricole à Lanouaille. Whole town was packed out, local fair, cider making, chestnut roasting, brotherhoods of pâté, chestnut and truffle in attendance. Big dinner in the salle des fêtes for the farmers (and us hangers-on) afterwards.

Yesterday in the Aubrac:

Local cattle competition. No fuss, no fanfare. Just a load of cattle tied up in the town square, and a whole bunch of farmers chatting sh!t over a glass or two in the bar opposite.

Yes, me too. In fact I found them to be very tasty several times during my week away.

If that photo had been taken in UK:
1. There would have been a lot of traffic
2. The edges of the carriageway would have been cracked and potholed
3. The verges would be littered with Coke cans, Big Mac boxes etc.
4. Hedges would be overgrown onto the verge.

We are still just about ok here. I can’t believe how much more everyone has had even only slightly west of here. It’s going to be a long winter.
