Pink eye / snow blindness

Noticed a ewe about 3 weeks ago gone blind, one eye very red with no sight at all, the other eye grey/ cloudy she could see a tiny bit through that in as much as she blinked when I waved my hand in front of it about 2 inch away, jabbed her and she was on the mend 24 hours later.
Saw another ewe in a different field with a cloudy eye and impaired vision the next day. Have since seen another ewe in that group and today a 4th ewe in the same group as the original ewe, now I know it is contagious but how fast would you expect it to spread and why is it not running through the one group but hopping between groups?
Could it be being brought on by the almost constant heavy rain in their eyes? I had it run through a group a few years ago that had been grazed in a large open field during a few days of blizzards!

We had a bad do with pink eye few years back went through majority of a group of 300 in two days after lots of wind and rain,
Had the odd case since but only the odd ones nothing major.

We have had the same over the last month. But we only ended up with about 5 getting it out of 250 and it seems to have settled down now fingers crossed ?
