Planning help change of use

Hi sorry I’m totally new to all this and it’s all going quite quickly

Basically we found a piece of land with some old brick barns on there and some lambing barns made from block work and traditional cladding

There is no agricultural tie but the land is not designated as residential

So my questions are and please be gentle:

If successful in its purchase can I stick a static on there from day 1 and start renovating the barns with the intention of turning it into residential via planning approval

Q type permitted development allows conversion of agricultural buildings to residential via change of use, I’m not intending extending them only to restore and for windows and doors etc, but obviously need to live on site to enable it again just wondering how to get approval for static or just stick it on and phone council?

Can I apply for temporary planning prior to owning the land? Or do I just inform th council for temporary planning once I own it

It’s all really difficult basically I need to sell my house to fund the land which in turn I will need to live on from day one exchange day so how do I go about it? Advice appreciated.

It’s unlikely that you’ll need planning permission for the static caravan. Might be worth a call to the local planning authority to check though. If it’s “on wheels” then you don’t normally need planning.

Class Q application are only about £200 per building, but need full proposed sketches and takes 6 weeks to come back with an answer. Your description sounds like there’d be no problem for the development, but I’d happily take a look to help advise better?

I’ll be in office tomorrow and have worked on class q for the last few years, I would be happy to advise further over the phone if you’d like? I’ll message you my number if you fancy going over it
