Please Help! Request to fill out Student Survey on behalf of a Surplus Food Redistribution Charity.

We are a group of students working on behalf of a London based charity that rescues fresh, nutritious surplus food and donates it to schools and charities to feed those in need. In 2020 the charity delivered 21.1 million meals. This charity would like us to find out how we can increase the amount of food rescued from primary agricultural producers (farms) so they, in turn, can increase the number of meals provided to the needy.

The charity sends volunteers to harvest and collect any surplus produce at no extra cost to the farmer and can respond at very short notice.

As background, the UK wastes almost 10 million tonnes of food every year, with almost 2 million tonnes coming from the food industry. Currently less than 1% is recycled for human consumption. (source WRAP). In addition food loss and waste generates unnecessary greenhouse gas emissions and puts pressure on scarce natural resources.

Your answers would help us to develop a more complete understanding of the management of surplus food production and would be much appreciated. Your responses will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Thank you in advance.
