Hi all , my case jxu has melted the ignition switch.
Our local dealer doesn’t have a new barrel in stock so I got a generic one. It doesn’t fit the plug that goes on the back so I am going to connect it manually.

Is anyone able to help with the wiring of case.

On the generic one the connectors are
numbered 1-4

I’m pretty sure I know those
1 - 12 volt power on
2 - ignition light
3 - heater plug
4 - starter solenoid

The problem comes with the existing barrel.
It’s numbered different 30, 15, 15/1, 50 and 15/54 the latter doesn’t have a wire connecting to it.

Is anyone able to help ? Thanks.

A multimeter or test lamp would help if you have one,

I found a wiring diagram for a switch made by Narva

30 = 12 volt power 15 = warning lights/accesories 50 = starter solenoid which would leave 15/1 for the heater plug.

So if you power to 30 you would be able to turn the switch and work out the rest with a test lamp/meter.

Incidentaly VW have a switch which shows 15/54 going to the fuse box, so I guess that's not needed in your case but the makers will use a generic baseplate for different models.
