I use 1"X11/2" batten and then speak nicely to the local auctioneers for a pack of paper lot numbers - staple the numbers on 1 foot long battens - numbers come in pairs - one for each end of the plot

Worked well for Bridgnorth YFC until the heavy rain combined with high wind took most of them off overnight and completely flumaxed the youngsters who were trying to organize the job :( so last year I printed numbers, laminated them and stapled to post, job sorted!
BYFC were missing the Bowen influence for a year or 2 but they now have another professional bloke on board

Are we looking at a Bishop's Castle/Clun YFC weekend this spring ??

No match :( - but I could be persuaded to hold a committee meeting in the pub/indian to discuss a potential future match

I haven't forgot about our night out, just had so many nights out in December I need a little time to get over it, running out of holes on the belt  and with you up at stupid o'clock these days.......................

I use 1.5in square wooden sharpened white painted with black numbers, they take a long time to make and if the ground is hard take a lot of hammering to get them in and we loose 2 or three every match due to splitting. They are also not that easy to carry any amount under your arm and your arm aches after hammering a few in.

Recently I helped to mark out a match where they used the largest size, about 18inches I would guess, white plastic horticultural plant markers with the numbers written in permanent marker pen. Easy to push in the ground, easy to carry and store were my thoughts. Two of us were not long marking 60 plots out. They are what I will replace my wooden ones with before long.

I've seen signs like that
about 2x3 sign bit plus peg like from a garden centre.
white plastic
light weight but NOT strong ! !!!

To week a peg in my opinion .

If there's a stronger option then they'll be ideal.
