Like I said in an earlier post, people dip to eradicate sheep parisites.Well no that doesn't help at all does it. Either answer some questions or stick an advert in the classifieds. Why would you dip a sheep? What numbers make the job cost effective? What is the likely cost of dipping and disposal?
Thanks alot glad you were happy with the service.I highly recommend Neil.
He came from Durham to Gloucestershire to dip less than 700 ewes across 2 sites.
I was dipping for scab control after injectables didn't prove effective enough. However dip will control all exoparasites.

Dipping if done correctly is the onw of the most effective ways of controlling sheep parasite, however pour-ons are good to a certain degree if you just have a small amount then pour-ons are probably better. Pour-ons are only good for everyone parasite where as dipping can cover everything in one treatment.
Hope that helps!
Pour-ons can only be used for certain parasites like blowfly, ticks and lice problems and depending on the product used will depend on the coverage which can last anywhere between 4-10 weeks but will length can play a big part in that, also pour-ons sometimes arnt an instant kill. Dipping will cover everything and if done correctly is a 100% instant kill it can last for as long as 7 weeks for ticks, keds and lice, and can last upto 10 weeks for blowfly strike, and 4 weeks for scab which is more than enough as the scab mite can only last for up to 18 days off the host sheep before it dies.It helps in part, but I have another question if I may. Dip vs pour on - what are the differentials in terms of longevity of the treatments?

49 day withdrawal on OP dip,40 with Clik and 8 days for crovectIt helps in part, but I have another question if I may. Dip vs pour on - what are the differentials in terms of longevity of the treatments?

Pour-ons, depending on the product used, will protect from blowfly from anywhere between 4 weeks (Crovect, which is cheapest & shortest withdrawal) to 16+ weeks (Clik, which is dearest and has longest withdrawal period). IME OP dips don't last anywhere near as long as Clik protecting against blowfly these days, and have as long a withdrawal (& longer).
For treatment of sheep scab, then plunge dipping is the daddy though.
