Poachers - trail cam suggestions

Struggling with happy go lucky poachers at the moment. seem to turn up once a week and have a good drive around , possible nab a deer and go again , was thinking about setting up some trail cams to catch them at it as i suspect them to be local .. anyone had any experience at this before ?

I would say at the time they will be driving around it will be hard to get a clear enough image of them to identify them. Probably the best you would get is to find out what time they were there.

Trail cams are pretty useless at getting pics of vehicle reg numbers at night, unless you spend a lot of money and then stil not that good, may I suggest you have a look at the Reconyx Trail cam website .

If they have thermal spotters, then any camera will show up like a beacon on top of a hill, at minimum you need to hide the camera behind something that they go past, you will only see the rear end, but the trigger time may be a help. (and hope they don't return in the opposite direction and steal the camera as well)
