The way I read it was the lad was happily employed by Daniel untill neighbour poached him not sure where the slave trade comes into it just think unless the lad was unhappy or actively looking for work the neighbour is bang out of order fair enough advertise a job if the lad gets in touch then alls fair but you don't approach someone's staff directly unethical in my book would not do it to someone would not like it done to me

we dont know if the lad was happy or not, the fact he was offered a job n accapted the offer would suggust to me he was not entirely happy where he was, could be he was motivated by more money, better conditions, more intresting job or maybe just to gain more experience, dont think there is anything wrong with that

Must agree that I wouldnt poach someone off a close neighbour who I wanted to stay on good terms with, but otherwise would have no hesitation presenting my offer to the prospect and let them decide for themselves. They could say yey or nay or they might even negotiate.

Nothing at all wrong with that at all never hold a man back I just think there are ways to go about certain things in life advertise job go through correct channels would think said farmer would be pretty pee'd if went direct and took egg customers off him matter of principle only as said before is the farmer out of order approaching another farmers staff nothing to do with if employe was happy or not

I was once poached as a student! Was carting tar plainings from another farm and he said he would be looking for staff next summer if I was interested. Went back to same farm for 3 years after that. He had shiny Fastracs, Volvo loading shovels and didn t shout at me like the farmer I was working for initially. Less money but a good move. Still keep in touch with him 11 years later.

You can't say that was a bad choice, even if the money was less, you were happy, sounds like he was a good boss, you probably made him a lot of money for him in the time you worked for him due to everything being good.
