Polaris Ranger Speed reduction

Is the throttle controlled by wire? Our Polaris Sportsman started to lose speed mystically and in the end it turned out to be a loose wire tensioner.

Throtle cable will be on its way out, snaps just behind the pedel. As the strands snap it stretches therefore not getting full revs. If you look on the dash board it should rev to 3500/3600 rpm when foot is to the floor. If not cable is your problem.
