I used to think about this when i saw the wild swimmers in the river not far from where i live. Its directly below the sewage works for the village as well.Northumbrian Water discharged over 32,000 times.Lovely! Easy swimming, they just had to go through the motions. And folk moan about farmers...

The water authorities just pay the fine and stick it on the cost of the water.“The agency says that overflows are "not a sign that the system is faulty", and that they are "a necessary part of the existing sewerage system."
I wonder if farmers could use that line.....
did you expect anything less from the biased bulls**t pansiesIf you do the maths, for Anglian Water by my reckoning is the equivalent of dumping continuously at 19 sites sewage for the whole year & AW are one of the better ones allegedly. Yet at the end of the article... "Sewage is one of several sources of pollution in rivers. Other sources include run-off from farmland."
Yes exactly that, that is actually what they do and its hidden within the ' environmental ' costs part of the billThe water authorities just pay the fine and stick it on the cost of the water.
It's called passing the buck!

Run off from farmland, ahh yes, in another topic in a similar vein currently running on here a member tells of how in heavy rainfall the pressure of extra water blows the lids off the sewer pipe across his field...............in close proximity to a watercourse. Apparently the water company are aware of it and monitoring the situation. If you do the maths, for Anglian Water by my reckoning is the equivalent of dumping continuously at 19 sites sewage for the whole year & AW are one of the better ones allegedly.
