Poor old worzel.

What's happened to worzel, the same as everything else wasted a classic old program, the old one had a kinda sad feeling about it and lv always wondered where the old ones were filmed, lovely countryside.

The Jon Pertwee one was filmed mostly in Hampshire. The field ('10 acre field') where he was 'posted' is somewhere near Furzledown. If you google it there are a few links, and bits on Youtube

Lot of the old one was filmed in villages around Stockbridge, John Pertwee and Una Stubbs were very friendly with the locals, and visited local care homes etc. Agreed the new one is rubbish, but then we've already had this conversation!

My brother and I as little lads were taken to Belton House for a day out. There we saw the “real life” wurzel gummage (John Pertwee) also on a day out. He wasnt dressed as wurzel gummage but we recognised him and he gave us a wink and said hello. Dropped our ice creams in amazement. This encounter was only topped by seeing “Eddy Yates” in Lincoln Co-op. My younger brother was so surprised he grabbed a passing customers trouser legs mistaking them for father.😆

Christ, talk about stars in your eyes, Eddie Yates and Wurzel Gummidge in one day!

I loved it made with shed a tear. It was beautiful the music...gentle I cant fault the new Worzel. Big hit here but it doesnt have to be the same a remake needs to be modernised and change. Mackenzie Crook brings class and emotion to Worzel.... Barvo!
