Poorly pigs.

Hello,
I have to 6 month old boars who have always been full of mischief and love their food.
But when I went out to feed them this morning they were still in the ark and I had to call them to come out.
They came and sniffed their food but did not want to eat it and were not happy at all.
I kept an eye and one of them did a runny poo, so I lifted the trugs and made a solution of fluid replacement which they both drank straight down, then went back to the ark and slept.
I made another rehydration solution this afternoon which they have drank again, but whilst giving them a scratch I heard a wheeze from one of them.
I'm not sure what's got a hold of them, any suggestions and what to treat them with?
Thanks in advance.

Are they getting other feed apart from pig nuts ? We had two pigs go off their feed for a couple of days earlier this year, we give lots of fruit and veg. so assumed they had eaten something that disagreed with them and just gave them nuts at first. Have they got plenty of clean water ? Can you check their temperatures ? (Not easy with boars in an ark).

If they are out and about, check they have not got access to anything that would harm them, like foxgloves that are still in leaf, which they will eat if not a lot of other green stuff about. Anything like this would give them the runs. When they are walking, are they steady on their feet?
Pigs do OK without food for a couple of days, as long as they have water. They tend to sort themselves out if they just have a tummy upset. Any blood in the poo - get the vet.
If you are able, stick your finger in your mouth for a count of 20, then stick it inside the pigs cheek and see if the temp is much different. It should be much the same. If they have a temp, time for the vet, but if they are not used to being touched, dont stress them.
See if they will eat a banana - lots of good stuff for pigs in bananas - if they dont, get the vet.
I hope they are up and shouting for food tomorrow morning!

I know that it would be awkward with outdoor pigs but ear temperature is a real good indication of their deep body tem as there are so many blood vessels there.

Hot to touch = infection cold to touch = something else although I would suspect 'poisoning by something since both have it.

I have a nest of dry sows that feed themselves when they want (up to a carefully controlled maximum) not all eat every day, some have 2 or 3 days off and appear fine after and resume normal habits (eating their max allowance as soon as they are able)
