Portable capstan winch..........

Hope this is the right place for this. I'm just kicking around an idea that won't go away. There are small petrol engine driven portable capstan winches like the PCW3000/5000 that I believe are mostly used in forestry. I'm looking for something similar, it can be petrol or 12v but cannot involve tractors, jeeps, atv's or other machines. The reason for it being a capstan winch is to draw relatively long distances. Why not just buy a PCW5000? Because they're very expensive, and I'm wondering if people have seen similar ideas cheaper? It would need to be rated to pull in excess of 1,000kg.
