Post and rail fencing price's

Is that with holes bored out @Thick Farmer or knocked in? Are you using 5x3 6' posts and 3.5x1.5" rails

Knock them in if I can but bore holes in the tough spots. Usually use 5x3 or 4x4 posts with 3.5x1.5 rails.

I've never understood why people will put up post and rail dirt cheap, but if they have to nail a few feather edge boards to it they charge the earth!

I know what you mean, but I've only ever knocked in posts for closeboard a couple of times usually they're pita jobs at the back of houses.

And thats Inc vat on materials its pretty tricky around here I guess its just getting your foot in the door. The least ive put it up for was 70p m labour when I was starting out we were taken advantage of by my mates family not quite that spec mind and id certainly nit be doing that again

I made the same mistake when I first started out. Charged £2-50m erecting only. The ground was the hardest I've ever worked on. Holes dug by hand & back filled. Never again as it didn't even come close to minimum wage by the time I finished it.
I hoped I was getting more wrk off it but never happened so big mistake. Now I would want somewhere around £4-00/£5-00m to erect & £11-00/£14-50 m supply & erect depending on ground conditions etc.
the area you live plays a big part in the price as I've known of crazy prices yet it's those poeple that seem to get all the work. I can guarantee my standard of wrk is as good if not better than most but Poeple still pay more than needed in my opinion.

2.50 a metre is very cheap for post n rail. I charge £ 2 a metre for sheep fencing bit more on a small job around £4-5 post n rail knocked with tractor and a bit more if iys dug in. Im in Derbyshire where r u?

I'm based in Oxfordshire.
I only started trading as a business a year ago but things have been doing well so far. I still had a habit of under pricing work hoping to get the wrk but I've realised this is pointless as it's not worth working your arse off for peanuts. I'm in the process of buying in machinery in order to make the business efficient & profitable however this is going to take time while I develop the business to where I want it. The job I mentioned at £2-50m was every hole dug by hand & back filled & rammed. It was the hardest digging I've ever come across. It was too hard & Stoney to use a post driver or auger.
I assume the council require the wire buried in the ground 4/6". I've done wrk in the past for north Oxfordshire council. They were very fussy about the spec to the point of checking random areas of the fence whereas when doing wrk for Hertfordshire council they weren't so worried about the spec & all I did was follow the spec of the fencing they required. No checks were made.
Hope you get the contract at a fair price.
