What have people done after getting covid to regain fitness levels

I used to be reasonably fit, regular gym & running, but Covid hit me really hard for 2 weeks.

since then I have lost all my fitness, get short of breath really easily, tire easily & am as weak as a kitten

want to get my fitness levels back but don’t want to over do it in case I put myself even further backwards

Post viral syndrome isn't unusual for any virus. Just take time

What's your vaccination status Roy ?

Fully vaccinated & up to date with boosters

have have 4 shots

2 x Pfizer & 2 x Moderna

i came down with covid a few days after my 4th

4 vaccines and you still had a nasty bout of covid?

Given that given your age you'd be statistically very very unlikely to die from it (as opposed if you were 80+ then you'd just be "very unlikely") the vaccines haven't done a lot

well, the unknown answer is how bad would I have been without the vaccinations ?

did the vaccinations protect me for longer ?

did the vaccinations have any affect at reducing / minimising the symptoms I had ?

I don’t know 🤷‍♂️

my 13 yr old son had covid ( he’s had the max number of vaccinations for his age group, 2 I think ? ) at the same time, he just had a bit of a headache & a sore throat. We were worried it would hit him harder as he does have asthma, but he didn’t have any breathing difficulties

as me me, a month later, I’m still short of breath

I suppose every country has different guidelines, but here anyone over 70 is considered at high risk

anyone over 70, or with existing respiratory issues, or who is of ATSI descent, can access free anti viral meds if they catch covid, which those of us who don’t fall into those categories can’t.

I’m 56, was reasonably fit & physical. My wife is a couple of years younger, but has become very unfit over the years & does have respiratory difficulties. If she caught covid ( based on my experience ) I think she would be in a very high risk group if she had bad symptoms. Interestingly, she still hasn’t had it

I'd suggest on the balance of probability given that the vaccine appears to wane pretty quickly you wouldn't have been much worse.

It doesn't surprise me you are short of breath a month later. If you haven't had a virus for a while it getting one can really affect the immune system. I expect in another month you will be a fair bit better again though, taking 12 weeks to get over a virus is not ridiculous at all

Again even someone in a higher "risk" catagoery still has an extremely small chance of getting severely ill from a covid infection.

Most of the UK population have had covid once

I haven't, or at least to my knowledge I haven't. Missus hasn't either.
Only covid symptoms I have had were in the autumn prior to it being invented. I don't get ill much but at that time I was very ill with flu like symptoms and the sorest throat I have ever had in my life.
No doubt it is coming for me sometime.

It did not effect my fitness after I had it, and I have not had any vaccines.
Just a couple of weeks of coughing. The cough did not get bad until I was getting over it.
The brain fog lasted longest and was the worst, probably at least 3 weeks.

I pulled the muscles in my back, from the coughing

entire body ached

constant headaches

very tired, slept a lot, absolutely no energy or stamina

trouble breathing

brain fog

this all lasted for nearly 2 weeks, still have brain fog & as I said, still weak, tired & short of breath

Also depends on how big a dose of covid you get , sounds daft

Ive not had a vaccination and have had covid twice. First time I knew nothing about it but it I was selected to have an antibody test and that confirmed I had had Delta in July 21. I then caught Omicron in Nov 21 and was poorly for a few days.
I've family members who have had 4 vaccinations and some of them are now on their 4th dose of covid confirmed through per tests. I have also noticed that their general health is not where it was prior to them having the vaccinations. Memory loss and disorientation being the main symptoms.
