The problem we all have is that the trade think we can survive on 2K acre
When the reality is we need 3K with PCN Slug control, & risk to factor in.

So the reality is last years black hole won't be filled in most cases.

It is easy to underestimate the cost of growing and storing a crop of spuds.
You are quite right to mention the risk involved. Lots of growers have lost a proportion of their crop this year, and none of us achieve our target quality with all of our crops all the time.

Must be the first time in a few years that whites are more than piper for washing ? Are they that short ?

What sort of money are chipping potatoes at the moment ?
We are on £6.50 per bag direct. Are we on the right track ? I want to be fair but it's mid may and I've heard some big prices being talked about.

I'm £7 direct, haven't got many to sell though

We've about 12t of piper left . Couldn't give them away at Christmas time but now they are desperate they fry ok .

Strange but true, the chip boys are quite different to deal with at times. But at least they pay .
