I'm looking to get upgrade my haulm topper.
Only want a 2 row rear mounted machine.
Thinking grimme or baiselier. Which does the best job or are they much the same?
Any for sale?

I guess they are all much of a muchness if set up correctly and blades are good. I imagine forward speed is a critical as anything. Having just a 2 row machine probably means I drive a bit too fast as I'm trying to get over the field as fast as possible.

The baiselier can have all same length blades and deflector plates or it can have longer blades for in between the ridges which means taking the plate out and putting a different plate in. Which does the best job. Dealer reckons the machine with same length blades does a good job but I would have thought you need longer blades to reach in between the rows. I know the stalks have all emerged from the top of the row but when it starts to senesce some haulm tends to lie down in the bottom of the ridge. I guess that is when you need good suction under the hood.

Used to have a grimme cut lass, which was soon called a grimme cut less then got another name change to a grimme cut f***all. Bought a basalier new in 2007 and it's been good.
I've got a cutlass, it's pretty useless, runs nice and smooth though:rolleyes:, been thinking about extending the sides down to try to create more suction.

We have 2 baseliers. One set up the for drills and one for beds with more traditional set up for drills and another for beds with most of the flails the same length. It is much better and we have since converted the other one to a bed setup as well.
