Really? Well we were only at £500 wk before last and just finished that sample. They were some of the worst spuds I’ve ever seen. But must have fried ok. Started a new store this wk so hope to get the price up gradually now.I've finished now, but thought good stuff was making nearer £600?
What variety are those? I've always been scared of blackleg risk. Some processing variety don't seem as bad?Making someone else’s seed go a bit farther for them 55-60. We are not ready to do ours yet.
Electra. We did 12 ton of Performer last year by hand and they can be bad for blackleg not a problem. What variety are those? I've always been scared of blackleg risk. Some processing variety don't seem as bad?
It centres them so you don't get slithers like other machines. There is a powder applicator on the machine which you put talc or gypsum on. We are fortunate that we have a letterbox dryer system so we can push a lot of air through them.had to google that to see how it cuts them!
Will you dress/cure the seed cuts also?

Do you still get much less of a yield with only half the eyes to produce stems?Electra. We did 12 ton of Performer last year by hand and they can be bad for blackleg not a problem.
Have you got some kind of micro climate where you are, and sandy soil? Too wet here to even get the muck tipped on the fields. If it stopped raining today we'd need 2 drying weeks before we could think about starting.Any planted yet? Got field destoned today but rain was on before I got it planted
A mate who worked out there said sewage gets pumped out on areas so no wonder they taste awfulI’m in Egypt just now, just started lifting last week. This land was a desert until 4 years ago.View attachment 1166883
They surely couldn’t import potatoes like that?A mate who worked out there said sewage gets pumped out on areas so no wonder they taste awful
In my limited experience no difference to a whole seed of equal size.Do you still get much less of a yield with only half the eyes to produce stems?
That’s what I was told , not saying it’s common practice but desert conditions and lack of moisture any moisture will do.They surely couldn’t import potatoes like that?
That's the problem now, i wanted this field to be the last to dig in autumn because its dry, now its going in first to get something growing.Have you got some kind of micro climate where you are, and sandy soil? So much land work stacking up. Its going to be hectic if does ever dry up.
Not sure what seed you have but if you plant a late maturing variety like Markies/Royal, a Sagitta planted in a few weeks on the heavier land will likely still overtake it to harvest? That's the problem now, i wanted this field to be the last to dig in autumn because its dry, now its going in first to get something growing.
