Many merchants are describing trade as "slow" or "dead" , but the volume of trade going through middle merchants has diminished rapidly in the last few years.
All of my customers coming to my farm are delivering at least a significant proportion, if not all, the potatoes they buy off me directly to the end user.

Almost finished the marfona here, then the Desiree to harvest. We bag all ours, supply farm shops, delivered the first load last week, they offered £4.50 bag, £180 per ton which we are happy with. To wet at the moment to carry on!

Heard similar. Growers who have not enough or even no storage are forced sellers and pushing the price down.

Hope there is a recovery after harvest.
