Many merchants are describing trade as "slow" or "dead" , but the volume of trade going through middle merchants has diminished rapidly in the last few years.
All of my customers coming to my farm are delivering at least a significant proportion, if not all, the potatoes they buy off me directly to the end user.
So hands up everyone who upped their acres this year then.Merchants always say trade is slow. Sad thing is, the difference between a good year and a bad one is only a couple of hundred thousand tonnes. Which is not a lot in the grand scheme.

Chipping piper here were £120 last Friday.
