2x sausage and chips (kids) plus an adult cod snd chips …….. £24 last week

……….. “ cash only “

who wouldn’t sell their self propelled harvester and open a couple chip shop’s instead ?

Yes, indeed. Last Saturday after leaving a farm visit I decided to treat myself to Fish and Chips near Lincoln. I ordered standard Fish and Chips plus Mushy Peas. Handed over a £10 note. And was slightly taken back when asked for more (£10.70). The Fish and Chips were nice. But has just reminded me that shall not be frequenting many Chip shops in the future. Only a year ago it as about £5.50 at the same shop. Appreciate that the cost increase is beyond the shop owners but they have in my view become a luxury treat.

Yes, I am sure that is the case. I have now to admit I do not frequent many takeaways. So wouldn't really know. Not had a Chinese/Indian whatever for easily five or more years. My only takeaway vices are Fish&Chips and a medium Doner Kebab with loads of salad no sauces on my forays into Nottingham to see a band. And that has gone up about £1 in the past year. But I do know our household bills and everything has increased more than my pay rise from last December! Pondering what to cut out. The Times subscription is being eyed up at the moment but defended by my wife for the daily quizes.

Sounds like a bargain.. name another takeaway food where you can buy a substantial cooked meal for 3 for substantially less 🤷‍♂️

Fish and Chip shops will end up like supermarket shelves with eggs, no chips! Chip shops are getting more demanding with quality and want them for £4-5 bag. It's not profitable to include reinvestment to.
