Potatoes after Sugar Beet

Any disadvantages or risks to growing potatoes after Sugar beet on well bodied black land? Not had potatoes for 7 years previously , low PCN count . Potato varieties will be Agria and Maris Piper

Thanks

We once changed our minds and planted spuds instead of beet. We’d already applied salt in the winter and it didn’t seem to affect the spuds.I’ve always sprayed spuds with boron by mistake and similarly no obvious effects.

It depends when you are lifting the beet crop if lifting in September/early October in good conditions and can subsoil afterwards probably not any problem later on might be more deep compaction issues.
Just double check any labels from products applied to beet crop for restrictions should be ok, caligula has a few minor cropping restrictions so check if you have used that product. If you have used conviso beet just check them label requirements. Potatoes are non flowering so not an issue if you have used neonic seed treatment.
I would agree generally as it makes sense to have a cereal to make the full use of the break crop.
In certain parts of Lincs the wheat/cereal is the break crop and might just be on well bodied black land if has access to irrigation etc cropping options are immense.
