Pottinger forage wagon

As picture - Torro 5100 on a Fendt 718 - output ranges from 5 acres/hr to 10ac/hr dependent on crop and distance from pit. When operating on manual loading you can bring the tractor to its knees on level ground but she will cope well in most situations - we do quite a bit of banky work and you just use your head and load the steep when empty and fill up on the downhill/flatter ground. Most important advice? - keep the knives sharp!
Would recommend the Pottinger to anyone - good kit, easy to drive, very reliable, easily maintained.

Looking at getting a torro 4500 with 180Hp tm on the front just wanted to know if this would team up well
With 180 hp you will have no problem with the 5100 on steering axles , a lot of the 4500 don't have steering axles and so eat their tyres very quickly , are you buying new.

going to look at a used 4500 this week with steering axle anything to look for its a 2007-8 machine, had a farmer offer me 300acre total work if I buy one, how many more acres would be needed to make it worth while?

Ok run the machine and look at every part of the rotor to look for damage or cuts from broken knives been pushed through . Then check the knife bank , check that it's closing correctly and that where the ram connects to it is not bent or strained , now take out the knives and check under where the front hook of the knife hooks in , if this is worn the knife will have dropped down and worn the steel box section under the knife , if this has happened it will lose knives . We rebuild this area when it wears . What value have they on it , any pics .

I've been and seen the torro 4500 the knife bank is good but the rollers on the back of the knife are a little rusty, the wagon is a 2006 and has done 2780 loads and 576 hrs £22000 out of workshop and £20000 as is, what's people's thinking on this ??

What are they going to do for 2 k , a set of cam bearings is €120 , a new set of knives is € 1000 , set of pickup tines is €300 , or are they just going to grease it and sharpen the knives with an angle grinder.

They all looked in the correct position but the rollers did look rusty and some had a washer and weld to keep roller in position

Did you take out the knives and look under the back of where they hook in , if you didn't take out the knives you couldn't see the problem I'm talking about., the washer welded on is ok as the grove for the clip can get worn .
