Has anyone any pros or cons regarding the Pottinger Terrasem? i am looking over options for a new seed drill and have narrowed it down to 3 to look at and demo,
1 - Amazone Cirrus
2 - Kuhn Aurock
3 - Pottinger Terrasem
The Aurock looks good but it is a good 25k dearer than the Cirrus and i know absolutely nowt about the Terrasem apart from it has the set up im looking for with a wavy disc into no till

We're running a pottinger terrasem c6 had it since 2012. Very well built drill but makes it extremely heavy at 10.8t without seed. Needs 300hp on it if using the cultivating discs and paddles. Been happy with ours but not without its faults, preforms well in good conditions but the moment it gets just a tad sticky you might aswell park it up. Parts are quite expensive for them aswell

The Cirrus and the Terrasem are cultivation drills, the Kuhn Espro would be more comparable to these than the Aurock
I thought with min till/wavy discs the manufacturers were saying they would no till, I maybe wrong, im off to Tillage on the 16th to kick tyres as they say

I'm running the c4 for a few seasons now. As already said very well built but are a heavy machine. I have sown in to some questionable conditions and got on ok. A great machine to generate clay with the cultivation discs.

I'm looking to run a drill into no till, and the terrasem with "wavy discs" up front is all you need to do so or am i wrong? Also Amazone do the same with there "min till" discs. to me it looks like the Aurock is first and foremost a no till drill, where as the Cirrus and Terrasem can be not till if the right discs are fitted up front

Interested to know why?

I've been trying to get a demo of a Terrasem to see the difference in establishment,it's the uneven sowing depth that winds me up,and how unlevel it leaves the ground behind the drill.
I've had another issue is when in high trash it wraps around the legs, and on the leveling boards which then heaps it up across the field.
Having said all that my crops do look good apart from the odd couple of headlands but that wasn't down to the drill. (Rolled to soon after drilling)
The way my farms look at the moment I'm a good advert for the Claydon system, and I probably won't change.... but if you can stick the disk in deep(and probably even change it for a narrower wave disc)I was wondering if it would do a similar job,and also I've been told I can run down the road with 2 ton of seed in the Pottinger drill.
That makes a difference to a one man band outfit.

Back in 2014 I had a Terrasem on demo for a couple of weeks, no wave discs back then but evenness of germination was great behind it as was how level it left the field. Pictures show drill going into stubble on November 3 and same field on December 23.

I took a Terrasem V6000 with wave discs out on demonstration to drill cover crops direct into stubble on 15 September, been back today to check out how even germination was. Quite happy with the result there. You certainly wouldn’t want any smaller tractor (Puma 240) on the 6m machine with wave discs and as already mentioned you would need 300hp+ to get the best out of it on cultivation discs especially later in the season.

Interesting. We would be pulling it with a t7.250 that's mapped a bit higher. Mostly spring sowing, not many hills and ground will be prepared in front of it. Would be happy at 10kmh max I'd say. Currently using a 740a jd drill, good sower but lacks a full width press and sometimes would be nice to do a bit extra tilling.

T7.250 would do the job on a 6m but if you work the discs hard at the front you may find that 10kph could be ambitious. My own findings with using the drill before I moved onto sales was that speed helps with getting the discs to work so although you could pull a 6m a 4m model might be a better option. At least that way you wouldn’t be working at the tractors limits and should have a bit of reserve power there.
