Power of attorney question

Does anybody know if for example that if someone who has power of attorney for someone else dies before them do the people who have powers for the one that dies get powers for the one that hasn't? If anyone understands! Got a potentially tricky situation coming up ! It's a situation that unfortunately is refused to be discussed!

Doubt it. Not a heritable thing. We made ours this year, you specifically name a person or persons, those people have to sign paperwork also that they agree to be attorneys.

No. Need to appoint another unless more than 1 named. Have 2 names on ours aiming that if 1 goes before I loose me marbles we're covered without the expense and hassle of doing it again

There are two LPA's one for finances and another for health decisions etc

You would need to have lodged an LPA for each parent (for example)

You can have more than 1, and also a 'backup'. I think alternate is the correct name for the backup, which only comes into play if one (all?) of the 'first choice' are unable to perform the role.

No-one not named at the outset will inherit the responsibilities.
