How do I stop it leaking here at this elbow. The nut is sealing ok against the pump, it is leaking inside the nut.
The inner elbow tightens up if I turn it slightly further but then doesn't line up with the pipe. When I line it up with pipe it then leaks.
This is a new pump.
The o ring inside is broken, remove the fitting, replace the o ring, back the nut all the way out, install the fitting, tighten the flare fitting, then tighten the nut.
There is no o ring inside it. Are you saying mine should have one where the inner pipe seats on the pump.
The man I bought the pump off screwed the elbow out so I never seen it or if he lost it.
Is it just an o oil ring.
Now Then..
As said there should be an O ring on the threaded part of the elbow. If you look closely when it's out, there are no threads below the nut/washer assembly, that's where the O ring sits..
You may not be able to remove elbow without slackening pump off as there is no room to turn elbow if so undo return pipe at rear and remove two bolts at front of pump that go through timing case and turn pump be careful as there is another large o-ring between pump and engine. and don't overtighten lock nut on elbow.
