Hi All, me again, search as I might i cannot find a definitive guide to fitting a powerstar 4 or 6 cylinder into a ten series, i would like to know obstacles and cures please. To try and keep this on topic...? I've read the fors and against, so I have formed my opinion of what I would like to do, but to help me and any others contemplating this conversion, could we make a list of the issues, and what is done to resolve them.
As far as I've found so far,
4 cyl is fairly straight forward into another 4 cyl, may have battery clearance issues?
Electronic fuel cut off will be required
The issue I've thought of is the 76/78 and other 10 ten series has the additional hydraulic pump on the side of the engine, does the powerstar have an additional hydraulic pump to assist the rear axle pump with flow?
6 cyl conversion,
Possible battery clearance issues, more so with 7.5, but does the 6.6 7840 engine give enough clearance?
Timing gears are cut the other way, what has been done to resolve this? Custom pump drive gear?
Best clutch to use?
Many thanks in advance for any help you give.
