Precision farming event newark

Hi, many on here attended today?
Thought it was very quiet. Did anyone see it advertised?

Wasn't well advertised I have to admit but the problem you have is that every year another must go to "event" appears in the show circuit diary, predominantly down South somewhere.

It must be a nightmare choosing which one to exhibit at never mind paying for the privilege, personally I'm going to start backing off going to these events. I would rather see people on my home turf or on more of a regional basis. Some of these shows you go to now the people are so busy on the stand you get ignored or don't get time to sort things out properly as you feel rushed. Maybe it's an age thing but I don't enjoy big shows such as Lamma and cereals any more they are just too big.

The bigger the show, the flashier the stand, the more shows you go to, the higher the cost. It all has to be paid for and guess who pays for it in the end????? ( not a dig at you just a generalisation )

I'm sorry it was dead its a shame for you after the effort you all probably went to.

We took the decision not to go based on falling numbers of exhibitors.
Looks like we were right!.
I think there are only so many shows you can do in a year without straining the budget and overexposing yourselves.
Mind you, I've been wrong before.

It was disappointing, there are too many must go to shows around the country, moving the event this year I thought may have generated more interest from northern farmers! wrong! Has this event died a death? Quite possibly. One interesting point made to me at the show was why not take it on tour? Scotland, Wales, South West etc open the event to those who would not normally travel to it. Precision farming is already integrated into LAMMA, Cereals etc does it need its own event? I am sure that the organisers will have to take our feedback on board otherwise risk losing the event altogether.

I was already to go and i thought it was a Peterborough as that is were it was last year and i thought i had better check what time and then found it was at Newark so i did not bother going and by the sound of it a lot of other people thought the same.

Didnt go but last few years has been a great show. Problem this year was it fell in a dry period when we were busy with field work snd like @db9go i thought it was at peterborough until I checked a few days before hand, found out it was in Newark and thought better of it. Too far away for me.

It was a shame that it was on the same day as the Agri-Expo in kent.

Hi Rob, Very disappointing day. Same crowd as Croptec, except that was a lot bigger, over 2 days and had good foot traffic.
Don't think Case IH or New Holland will be attending next year. too much time and money for nothing.

I went to Croptec for the first time and thought that was a really good day out, precision farming companies along with all the other services such as seed, chemicals etc, quite busy lots to see in the day.

I don't think I would go to Precision farming again.

Couldn't believe how quiet it was. Felt sorry for exhibitors. We've been asked to exhibit on a few occasions but just can't do everything. Tend to put our budget into events where you are guaranteed a decent foot fall. Was a waste of a day and won't be visiting next year.

Given the size of our industry in GDP output terms, how many events do we need. A lot of them reek of extracting money from us. Surely the way forward would be Lamma one year at the NEC and then Cereals the next. the latter should always be in the same place, preferably lincs as that is as central as it gets for Aberdeen to Cornwall. I am not talking about the local shows here but the big technical events for arable guys.

As someone said above, moving it round the country might be a decent idea, we're in Scotland and I would've gone if I'd known about it and it was half local. It's one thing travelling to a big show like LAMMA, but for smaller events or shows I'd imagine you're only going to pull from the local area. Downsizing it and moving it around the country might open you up to people you might not see otherwise.

No body is making a great deal out of AG basically, a poorly advertised change of venue and a dry spell didnt help either.
