Have a big 3ph karcher static steam cleaner, typically just put a new coil in it and the damn drive for the blower fan and diesel pump is shot, output shaft from the motor has worn slightly and the tolerance ring which is supposed to act as a slip clutch I guess is too slack to do its job, isn’t a obvious ‘next size up’ available for a tolerance ring and all the online retailers need to order them in packs of 20 @ £50/ pack so a dear job ordering different sizes just to try.
the tolerance ring means that torque at start up is reduced so the fan and diesel pump isnt going straight up to 100’s rpm in a second everytime it starts.
Never had any experience with tolerances rings before in these circumstances, could I liquid metal around the shaft to build it up to give the tolerance something to bite into?
what sort of liquid metal would I need to use if I wanted to do this? There looks to be lots of sorts.
