Problem using generator to run a space heater.

From what @TripleSix kindly posted in reply to my thread , “How do I work out what size generator do I need to run space heater”, I get the impression that one can encounter problems, when using a generator to run a space heater.
Any info , thoughts/suggestions on the above would be appreciated, before I spend any money and the idea turns out to be an expensive mistake!!!

Borrow a generator off someone to try.

Or take your space heater to the local generator shop to try before you buy
