Project MTX codename - Don't tell the wife

Bought myself a little winter project to play with on the quiet days . Made a start last night Was to afraid to move here into the workshop as the bonnet was tight up against the windscreen and the only thing holding the tractor in one piece was the cab mountings.
Tractor was involved in a road accident causing the gearbox to literally snap in two.

Ouch!

Apart from a lot of trim work and a nightmare of electrical connections that should not be too hard to sort out. A good project, bit need a heated workshop if doing it over the winter!
Keep it going as a restoration/repair thread, with lots of pics!

Is the cab bent?
Big project just be careful the cab hasn't stretched as I've seen an MF with similar and after I replaced the transmission the cab was slightly out on the mountings :(

I don't really want to devuldge how much it cost as hopefully we will sell it on after the rebuild;)
Will keep a record of expenditure as we go along.I have a second hand gearbox casing which we will completely rebuild to include new clutch packs , bearings and seals etc. Will probably do the forward - reverse
packs and brakes while where at it.

Cab off yesterday morning
Hooked the chains on and opened here up to reveal damaged clutch shafts . Looks like we need a complete powershift gearbox section complete with 4wd shaft. Time to get the shopping list written
Picture 3 shows where the clutch pack shaft has picked up in its oil gallery also the snapped 4wd shaft. Perhaps Father Christmas will bring me some new boots.

Good luck, seems like something we would take on. Some days will be spent asking yourself why, but the end result will most probably be worth it. Following this thread with much interest.

Chinese or Indian.
Trouble is I can't leave it alone now I started. My winter project could be up and going in the next 10 days.
Might hide Missy McCormick away then untill next summer

Do you think McDonagh Engineering will give me extra discount for mentioning them on here
Get that gearbox on a pallet Cahir
We buy alot of parts from MDE in Ireland who we have dealt with for many years and become good friends with.
Hopefuly they have a correct gearbox in stock for my McCormick . There is a couple of different part numbers for the main casting which I dont think are interchangeable
