Puddle

Remember, water seeks it's own level, so disregard structures and think about where the natural water table might be when considering this sort of problem. Water can do funny things below ground level! Any pictures of the general site?

Water table isn't an issue, 300ft up a valley side.

As you can see the ground in the last photo is a fair bit higher.
Everywhere else is lower

All this rain we've had over the last week has not caused a puddle.
It's only very heavy rain that triggers it.

There is no signs of water running across the floor or dripping from the roof.

I've been on the roof, all looks good.
Recently the wind and weather has been coming from the east which directionis east or which wall is it hitting

Well there can’t be enough pressure to push it up or no sign of it travelling sideways then it has to be coming down or else someone is yanking your chain pretty hard. ;)

By the way we are at 800ft ,the water table is 4ft down wzd a 1ft a while ago

That does not mean the water is not running along the surface of the rock, even though it is underground. Water seeks its own level, or tries to, even under ground so it can pop up in the strangest of places! Think of a spring. Not say this is the answer but what ypu are describing is so odd, the answer must be equally as wierd! You need a building surveyor to answer this one.

My conservatory roof has a minor leak, but only when it's blown from the east.
Southwest it's as dry as dry.
My money is on a roof problem that is going to drive you mad for years.

Had a house in the Hebrides with a water problem. Whenever there was a bad storm (not unusual out there!), water would literally run down the inside of the walls of the house. We tried everything to cure it and the local plumber was at a loss. Eventually, the house was sold -- to the plumber who promptly cured the problem! (It wasn't my house, btw).

Now I am older and wiser, I would guess the downpipe was either blocked or over whelmed and wind blew water in the gutters up under the slates. But it had everyone guessing (except, obviously, the plumber!:sneaky:).
