Just testing the water a bit..in 3 or 4 weeks time ill be thinking about opening up my small strawb area for pyo. Will I be allowed to do that under current restrictions? will I be facebook shamed for doing it? Curios to hear other peoples thoughts on it.
Just to add I have a small seasonal farm shop as well which I plan to open in a week or two..as soon as I have fruit to sell and as far as I can tell this will be fine.

I think under current restrictions you wouldn’t be able to do pyo strawberries. The rules may have changed in three or four weeks time.
I haven’t got flowers on my strawberries yet but the trusses are well out. I reckon 6 weeks to first pick from flowers opening.

Can get Takeaways here from the pub and they do takeaways for they tuck drivers at the truckstop

food is an essential

1 way system in the tunnels and restrict numbers of people in at one time same as many food shop do
pub as can open a pop up shop and takeaway with out planning permission

pickyour own no different

the main thing is to increase the distance between pickers and eliminate the transmission of the virus
sinks and hand washing and distance in the open should prevent transmissions

Social distancing, I can not see why not allocating rows to family groups/pickers working one way. Pay contactless.
If you watch Trumps briefing tonight, there was a presentation of survival of the virus outdoors, and that its killed by heat, sunlight and humidity.

We’re going through the same thing.

We plan to put in a one way, hand washing, limit the number of people etc. We see the danger that people will bring the kids etc as an outing. I think we’ll invite at the beginning, whilst we have the first few. Cherries in a couple of weeks. I can eat my own weight in cherries.

If you shop at the shops the food has been at a minimum picked by someone, and put on the shelf by someone. Unlike pick your own.

That has been disputed by quite a few people that know.

Any research has to be peer reviewed, and you would have to examine the test procedure. Any science advisor who stood up and did the presentation would to be certain that the evidence is robust, because it will be peer reviewed and open to scrutiny
Lots of things in the treatment of CV are being done with not the normal evidence based procedure. If it killed is by UV or even reduces it's life that has huge implications for the control in nursing homes where little sunlight gets in.

local shops are desperate to get produce as supermarkets are mopping up supplies. Any excess I have will go and support our local village shop.

From the moment Tesco purchased Booker they have been waiting for a moment like this. Tesco now effectively control a large chunk of the 'independent' retail sector.
I would urge anyone concerned about this issue to drop in at the 'Tescorona' thread and use the evidence there to write to their MP/ lobby their NFU rep etc.

I would be amazed if the virus was not killed by UV, it kills just about all other living things, and is a well recognised way of purifying water.
However the levels needed are the question, and the suggestion that sun light by itself or fancy UV bulbs as widely promoted is going to have any real effect on the virus certainly needs full assesment.
