Raining again

Friday's forecast looks horrendous - just a dark blue mass over the entire UK for the day

Been getting lambing shed ready today, field they have been grazing since Xmas totally trashed, was going to plough anyway but no turning back now, will have to. Digging a few spots out by hand as soon as sheep are in, to try to get the field dry enougth to get a digger in, to lay a few drains.

Perhaps you should invite George Monbiot along to lend a hand

Today is the first day this weather has really got to me.

Scanning ewes, yes it didn't rain but it was just damp and cold. The sheep were still wet from yesterday and my hands were freezing in gloves just pushing them into the crate.

It looks like a deluge tomorrow and Simon says the jet stream is going to get established again with it getting wetter and windier.

How can it get wetter?

There is mud everywhere.

Just had to have a moan.:bag:

Yup it's officially wet. And BTW where are the pictures of the beautiful Sussex cattle we were promised from your archives ?

Digging grips today. Soil a few inches down is dry - crust on top has been beaten into submission by rain which is now ponding on top. Next year I will use a JCB to dig grips in advance.

I have an old conventional plough with just the rear 12" furrow on it for pulling grips, almost the most use implement on the farm :'(
