Friday's forecast looks horrendous - just a dark blue mass over the entire UK for the day

Been getting lambing shed ready today, field they have been grazing since Xmas totally trashed, was going to plough anyway but no turning back now, will have to. Digging a few spots out by hand as soon as sheep are in, to try to get the field dry enougth to get a digger in, to lay a few drains.

Mmm indeed. Might lose a tad of the attraction if Cameron decides to placate the farming community by making her Minister for Dredging!! Though on reflection maybe messing about in water is just the ticket - I can imagine her in thigh length waders!!

Full of cheer. Children have been pestering for snow. Snowed for about 10 minutes. If that's all we get all year I am happy as the cat who found the cream. But it can stop raining soon please.

Today is the first day this weather has really got to me.

Scanning ewes,yes it didn't rain but it was just damp and cold.The sheep were still wet from yesterday and my hands were freezing in gloves just pushing them into the crate.

It looks like a deluge tomorrow and Simon says the jet stream is going to get established again with it getting wetter and windier.

How can it get wetter?

There is mud everywhere.

Digging grips today. Soil a few inches down is dry - crust on top has been beaten into submission by rain which is now ponding on top. Next year I will use a JCB to dig grips in advance.

I have an old conventional plough with just the rear 12" furrow on it for pulling grips, almost the most use implement on the farm :'(
