Checking around a bunch of ewe lambs this morning , noticed probably 10 out of the 120 with traces of blood around there tails , haven't had time to get them in to check rams but i'm suspecting one of them might have damaged himself , anyone had this before ? If he is damaged should i take him out and get a replacement or do you think he'll still do the job ?

Find him, take a picture and show us.

Sometimes its something very minor, sometimes they damage things so they will never work again.

Even if it's not a permanent problem, at the very least his todger will be sore and he might not be serving them properly as a result (even if he's jumping & marking them). I'd get another ram in if you can, or be prepared for a load of empties, just in case.

Hopefully it's nothing, or a very temporary thing, but could be expensive if you wait to find out.:(

As @neilo says
Put another ram in with him or replace him...

I snapped a part downstairs years ago and that was agony for 2-3 weeks if not more so it wouldn’t surprise me if he wasn’t doing the job right, he may be pulling out early in pain...

Put two rams in with the ewe lambs on the 11th i think it'll be a bit risky to leave one ram to cover them

Depends how big the group are - I’ve never had less than 3 rams in a group at any 1 time until this year I had to run 1 ram for 14 days before 3 others joined him to sweep/cover the fallout

Yes I was just thinking of pizzle rot, based on a general feeling that you've all enjoyed "A season from 'Nam"
Not very nice but tip the ram over and lets all have a look at his twanger .

Even our politicians over here get it?

Not sure what the best cure for it is
(and don't want to venture any suggestions or the tut-tutters will be down on me like a hod of bricks) :)
