Looking at used 17 reg, 240ps, petrol, but may consider 240ps diesel, I’m quite aware of land rover problems, as I run Discovery 4 commercial, no problems so far, just keep an eye on oil level and change regularly.

Stick with the petrol version at that age. The diesels have a very real issue with the DPF mounted too far from the engine, causing regeneration failures unless regularly driven long distances. They also dilute the sump oil with fuel and may require oil changes at half the advertised mileage as a result, which JLR do for free at this moment.

We had an si4 , was a nice car with all the toys and it went like stink. but we found that around town it was very jerky when trying to drive in traffic and was very heavy on petrol , low 20’s all the time .

Mum had several Vogues and sports and then tried an Evoque once me and my sister had our own cars, she had it less than 6 months then went back to a 'proper' range rover. Nothing mechanically went wrong with it but it was very uncomfortable, cramped and low.

When talk to the guy at the service garage the other day about 4x4 cars etc , He said Have you ever seen the talaban driving around in any thing other than a Toyota

Very true. Looking at news reports from the Middle East over the decades you would swear it’s Toyota VS USA.
