Besides being of historic interest, equipment of that era, no matter what it is, is a form of artwork that modern stuff just doesn’t have.

We borrowed one like it for a bit, very handy but the hydraulics were showing their age. At least with friction crane everything is mechanical and can be fixed. Old hydraulics not so much.

Did a little bit of restoration & cleaned up the type settings:

Hopefully with a little bit of luck we might get it to the point of printing something.
Although apparently original whale oil based inks are no longer available!
