I have a ransomes YL board with S677 stamped on the back. Wondering if anyone has another of these for sale or possibly a set of genuine YL 183 Kristeel Boards for sale.
Thanks

Rather than start another thread, thought I would ask this question on here. Assuming you have a set of YL bodies, are there any tips on how best to set them up for match ploughing? I ask this as I seem to remember some similar advice on here relating to TCN's.

Honestly you are asking a million dollar question! What plough are you putting them on for a start? Ray alderson once told me push them out in the middle an pull them in at the back! I have tried all sorts of different things with mine until I liked how they were working!

Any pictures of how you set them up? I have a set on a ts63 which I haven't used yet. How do you push them out in the middle and pull them in at the back? Do you do away with the metal brace that runs from along the back of the board?

As with all Ransomes boards then do not push them to extremes. With TCNs I just used to give them 3 flats of pressure on the adjuster. Most people run TCN’s with no back strap. I used to fasten them tight to the frog then give them 3 flats on the adjuster. Make sure they are parallel. As a check put a tape to the front workside corner of the back leg, rest it on the mouldboard and radius it round to the back of the front mouldboard. The measurement should be within the range of 700 to 720mm. Some people go as low as 690. A low measurement is no good if one or other of the boards is still slack.
Trial and error is important. What works for one will not suit everybody. The acid test is that on the second run of the opening, with the front body cutting in the right place, the rear body should cut back to the shoulder of the preceding run.
once you get that out of the way and the boards are set true then you need to set the width you chip back in at. TCN need about 27”. YLS, RND’s and RWM’s need less. Experiment and find what suits you best
Don’t be shy to experiment with speed as well. You can go too slow.

Tbanks Dave, as always interesting advice, which hopefully I will put to good use one day as I also have a set of tcn's on legs. But do you have any similar advice for yl bodies?
