The latest trick I heard was for consultants to approach large companies and, obviously for a large fee, offer to manage and help them fight ransomeware attacks. Then, when the attack happens, the cheeky barstewards secretly pay the sum demanded and tell the poor suckers that they've managed to decrypt the files and restore them. The fees cover this, and more.
