Rats chewing through solar cables

Seem to have a problem with vermin chewing through the cables on our ground mounted solar, some cables have wire exposed,is it safe for me to tape these up with insulating tape or is there a chance of electrocution?

Any ideas on how to stop this problem?

600V at up to 4amp. Certainly shock the hell out of you. Break the circuit at the DC isolation point or get a blanket and cover the end panel in the series.

You can also tape up the cable just hold an insulated part and wrap the tape. This will fail as soon as you have a damp/wet spell which will be every morning/evening and when it rains with "earth fault" and should lock out the inverter.

Quick fix is to chop the affected area and attach a pair of MC4 connectors - this should shore it up.

My panel circuits are up to 800 volts, so take great care.
Remember they are DC which means, if you touch both sides your muscles go into spasm and you cannot release! Unlike Ac which tends to throw you away.
However saying that if you only touch one cable, you cannot get a shock no matter the voltage.
Using rubber gloves, just marigolds will give a high level of insulation if you are going to do it yourself.

sorry to be pedantic , but amps on their own won't hurt you, just as hundreds of volts at milliamps will neither

You can be all the pedantificationlism in the world, amps kill ya, volts merely raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Haven't you seen jaws in moonraker? Electrons and protons

Please get a picture - man in marigolds by moon light :)

Apparently 80volts can kill a person if applied in a certain manner - Told to me by a U.K. Electrician with Polish (Jewish) family with experience of Nazi Concentration Camps [emoji35]
Certainly , some people are more susceptible , but the main danger is a current travelling across the body, ie from one hand to the other, as it is the heart at real danger.
I am no expert on electric shocks , and not too keen to learn by practical experience

You've come this far, either pics or video evidence or your statement isn't true.
